View in browser       Click to view the full PDF of the newsletter   NEWS     COMMEMORATION OF THE BATTLE OF AVARAYR   On 8 February, Armenians throughout the world commemorate the Battle of Avarayr (A.D. 451, May 26). The armed forces of Armenia confronted the Persian Empire, which aimed to convert the world's first Christian nation to Zoroastrianism, thus assimilating Armenians and depriving them of their Christian identity.   His Grace Bishop Hovakim Manukyan presided over the liturgy and read the encyclical of His Holiness Karekin II on the occasion of the 100 anniversary of the first Armenian Republic 1918-1920 and heroic battles of May 1918.   Read more about this special day here.   ST. YEGHICHE PARISH ANNUAL ASSEMBLY   On Sunday, 4th February 2018, St Yeghiche Parish held its 2017 Annual General Assembly Meeting presided by His Grace Bishop Hovakim Manukyan. The Parish Council presented its annual report detailing the activities.   After a productive meeting, Bishop Hovakim Manukyan thanked the members present and congratulated the outgoing St Yeghiche Parish Council and wished the elected Parish Council success for the years ahead. The meeting was closed with a prayer and blessing by His Grace.   SPIRITUALITY: TIARNENDARAJ (ՏԵԱՌՆԸՆԴԱՌԱՋ)     Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates the Feast of Tiarnendaraj on 14 February.
