And on 1 October, at the ripe age of 94, Aznavour passed away and left an inevitably yawning gap behind him. Not only a gap created by a singer, an actor or a comedian who was as disciplined with his work as he was prolific in his output, but also by an Armenian who embodied many of the hopes and dreams of successive generations.
