The new Armenian Ambassador was welcomed at St. Yeghiche Church
 
On Sunday 24th February 2019, His Excellency Dr Arman Kirakossian, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Court of St James’s, accompanied by Mrs Kirakossian, attended the Divine Liturgy presided over by His Grace Bishop Hovakim Manukyan who also conducted a special blessing and thanksgiving prayer.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy Bishop Hovakim introduced His Excellency to the congregation and wished him a successful term in office on behalf of the Diocesan and Parish Councils as well as the parishioners.

His Excellency, Ambassador Dr Kirakossian thanked the Primate and those in attendance whilst conveying to them his many objectives in the coming term.

Following the conclusion of the liturgy, a reception followed where the Community members had an opportunity to get acquainted with His Excellency.

 
 
 
The Many Lives of Calouste Gulbenkian
 

On Thursday, February 21st, St. Sarkis Church in London hosted a book launch dedicated to its benefactor and founder of the first Armenian church in London, the late Calouste Gulbenkian, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of this great philanthropist and benefactor of the Armenian Church and Nation.

The book launch was organised by the Armenian Institute. After the greeting by the Primate, Dr Susan Pattie welcomed the guests on behalf of the Armenian Institute. Dr Razmik Panossian, Director of Armenian Communities Department of Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation presented the author Dr Jonathan Colin who spoke about the research leading to his book and also about Calouste Gulbenkian. A reception followed at Nevarte Gulbenkian Hall, where the author signed books.
The event was attended by members of the Gulbenkian family, non-Armenian and Armenian guests as well as many London Armenians.

 
 
 
Primate will consecrate Armenian Khachkar at Canterbury Cathedral
on Saturday, March  2nd
 
The Khachkar has been carved in Canterbury by Vartan Moskofian, who is of Armenian descent, and John Meardon, the Cathedral’s former Receiver General, from a block of imported Armenian tuff stone. It stands nearly 2 meters tall and will be positioned in the Memorial Garden of the Cathedral Precincts, itself a memorial to the First World War and a fitting place for a work dedicated to commemoration and reconciliation.
 
 
7-day Pilgrimage to Italy and audience with His Holiness Pope Frances
 
Travel dates: 5th to 11th May 2019
(Rome, Vatican, Florence and Venice)

The visit will include a general audience with Pope Francis, meeting with Church dignitaries, ecumenical prayers, visit different Churches and shrines, catacombs as well as an excursion in the Armenian monastery of St. Lazaro.
