Feast of St. Vartan

Dear Faithful,

We will be celebrating the feast of Vartanants on 23rd February. The Divine Liturgy will start at 7.00 pm at St. Yeghiche Armenian Church, London. St. Vartan and his army of 66,000 people fought for their faith and also for their identity. The Army consisted not only professional solders but also of many volunteers. Vartanants is the name day of many Armenian and men and women. It is the name day also of the Catholicos of All Armenians His Holiness KAREKIN II.

Before going to battle for their faith in 451, on 26th May, St. Vartan and his solders took Holy Communion and were blessed by the Catholicos Hovsep.

Today many Armenian men and women, especially in the diaspora organisations serve the Armenian communities and carries out a God pleasing mission to preserve Armenian culture, identity and also support the Church in her mission.

This is a day also to respect all the volunteers who serve their community. At the end of the service there will be a special prayer for longevity of the Pontiff of the Armenian Church as well as blessings for all the volunteers that serve in the community organisations.
