GREAT LENT EVENING SERVICES
Friday Evening, Liturgy of the Hour of Peace, St. Sarkis Church, 6:30 pm
We are delighted to announce once again that every Friday there will be evening services in St. Sarkis Church (Liturgy of Hours). The faithful are welcome to join clergy for the evening service where they will be also invited to read parts from the Prayer Book of St. Nerses the Graceful, 12th century Armenian Church Father and Catholicos.
There will be Lenten food served by different committees and organisations in the Gulbenkian Hall of St. Sarkis Church. The Great Lent started in the Armenian Church on 27th February.
Lent is a spiritual journey and fasting develops our self-control. According to the canons of the Armenian Church it is mandatory to fast and refrain from any food that comes from animals including fish. The faithful are supposed to fast, pray, forgive and do charity work.
The fasting period will end on 15th April, after the liturgy on the eve of Holy Resurrection.
