TURKISH AIRLINES PRIME-TIME ADVERT ON UK TV ON 24 APRIL 2019

This advert repeated on subsequent days with a voice over  of;

: ""Akdamar Island which is of great importance to the Armenian people has been taken under protection with diligent restoration efforts carried out by the Turkish state and has been brought to the world heritage. Many other hidden monuments in Anatolia are now ready to come to light."

The original video seems to be from "Presidency of the Republic of Turkey - Directorate of Communications" which Turkish Airlines used for their advert with their own logo.

{note spelling tha eliminates the correct Armenian name].

Here is a reaction from Garen who watched it:

Akdamar Kilisesi

Yesterday was the 24th April 2019 - 104 years after the Ottoman Turks sent out the killing orders to round up, deport and murder up to 1.5 million Armenians from their ancient homeland of 3,500 years. To this day, the Turkish Government denies that this was the planned Genocide of an entire people.

During the evening, on commercial British TV Channels such as during Channel 4 News (peak time 7-8pm) and on ITV  "Coronation Street" (the most popular soap opera in the UK) on ITV, Turkish Airlines ran this advert inviting tourists to visit Akhtamar Island in Eastern Turkey, talking about how the Turkish State has supposedly ensured its survival and restoration. It is the MOST CYNICAL timing of an advert, a continuation of the obfuscation of history, of the rewriting of it, of denying the truth - Akhtamar Church is only ONE of about 2,500 other Armenian Notre-Dames which the Turkish State has been systemically destroying for 100 years - this one has survived because it is on an island, in the middle of a caustic lake, far away from vandals and the military. The ad is designed to mislead the casual watcher.

No mention of St Giragos Churh in Dikranagerd (Diyarbekir) still badly damaged after extensive renovations by Armenians when the Turkish army claim they were bombarding Kurdish PKK positions

Garo Paylan urges Turkish parliament to hold parliamentary discussion on Armenian Genocide

Ethnic Armenian lawmaker of the Turkish parliament Garo Paylan has called on the parliament of Turkey to hold a parliamentary discussion on the Armenian Genocide.

Garo Paylan issued a respective statement which says: “On April 24, 1915, political scientists, writers, poets, journalists, teachers, scientists and many other Armenian intellectuals have been arrested in Constantinople, the capital of the Ottoman Empire. They have also been deported to Ayash and Changhir, but later most of them have been killed.

Although the losses of 1915 cannot be returned, but from the view of living together, accepting the pains created inside the memory of the society and working on improving one another are valuable. The Parliament should restore the rights and keep the memory of those intellectuals who were working for the lighting of the Ottoman and Armenian peoples, were developing the educational institutions, were writing, producing, thinking, who, however, have been killed on this land.

April 24, 1915 is accepted by the whole world as a day of launch of the Armenian Genocide. The Armenian Genocide has been a subject of discussion in numerous parliaments of the world, but has never been discussed in the Turkish parliament. Meanwhile, the parliament, where this great disaster must be discussed, is that of the country where the disaster has taken place. In other words, that is the parliament of Turkey.

For already 104 years Armenians worldwide are demanding a restoration of justice. Justice can be restored only within the conscience of the Turkish people and inside the Turkish parliament. The parliament, that should discuss the disaster that happened to the Armenian people, first of all must be the parliament of Turkey. And we urge to hold a parliamentary discussion on this matter”.

In 1915, the crime perpetrated by the Ottoman Empire against the Armenians was the first genocide of 20th century. The Armenians worldwide commemorate 104th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

The extermination of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire during the World War I is called the Armenian Genocide.

Those massacres were perpetrated by the government of Young Turks in various regions of the Ottoman Empire.

The Armenian Genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman government has been documented, recognized and acknowledged by eyewitness reports, laws, resolutions and the decisions of numerous states and international organizations.

There are numerous documents considering the massacres of the Armenian people as a pre-planned and thoroughly implemented act of genocide. Organizations like the Council of Europe, the European Parliament, a number of UN Committees, the World Council of Churches, MERCOSUR parliament and others acknowledged the Armenian Genocide.

Many countries have recognized the Armenian Genocide: Uruguay is the first country that acknowledged the Genocide in 1965. The following countries have condemned and recognized the massacre of Armenians as a genocide based on international law: France, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Russia, Poland, Lithuania, Greece, Slovakia, Cyprus, Lebanon, Uruguay, Argentina (2 laws, 5 resolutions), Venezuela, Paraguay, Chile, Bolivia, Canada, Vatican, Austria, Luxembourg, Germany, Czech Republic, Denmark, Brazil, Australia’s state of New South Wales, 49 US states.

Garo Paylan makes inquiry to Turkey's vice president over documents on Armenian Genocide

Garo Paylan, Istanbul Armenian MP from Turkey’s opposition pro-Kurdish People’s Democratic Party (HDP), has made an inquiry to vice president of Turkey Fuat Oktay over  the fate of the records of the Turkish court-martial that operated from 1919-1922 aimed at bringing to juctice the perpetrators who committed crimes against the Armenian people,  the Istanbul-based Agos newspaper reported.

According to Garo Paylan, Turkish President Erdogan mentioned in the April 24, 2019 speech on the occasion of the 104th anniversary of the Medz Yeghern that the doors of their archives are open before all those who aim to discover the truth

Following issues were highlighted in the Palyan's  inquiry"
1. Aren't the records of the court-martial kept in the state archive?
2. When were the mentioned records first submitted to the archive? Where and in which archive's catalogue were the data of the records for the last time?
3. Where and in which archive those records are kept if the calls that the original records are absent or unavailable do not correspond to the reality?
4. By what means can the researchers, who ''want to discover the truth'', reach those records?'

Pashinyan urges to change whole policy in culture sector

During today’s Cabinet meeting Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan urged to create such conditions so that people, living, working and studying in Armenia, will have a chance to become renowned musicians.

“Our entire policy in the culture sector must change, and we should put it on another logic. For instance, today we have young artists such as Sergey Khachatryan, Narek Hakhnazaryan and others, and we need to answer to a very simple question: why these people needed to leave Armenia in order to become renowned musicians? This is a very simple, practical issue which we must solve. We must create conditions for the people living, working and studying in Armenia to have a chance to become famous musicians”, the PM said.
He stated that maybe the problem comes from music schools and the operation system of these schools.

The ‘fake’ plant in Armenia to increase investments to $10.1 million

The International Manufacturing Group CJSC (IMG Group) will increase the investment in the production of household machines to 4.9 billion drams (about $10.1 million), Economic Development and Investments Minister Tigran Khachatryan said at a government meeting today.

The government of Armenia decided today to provide the company with a set of customs benefits for import of equipment and raw materials.

The minister said the company has already invested 2.2 billion drams in the construction of workshops and equipment imports, and plans to bring investments to 4.9 billion drams under a new program.

He said the company is engaged in the assembly of household appliances, including TV sets, washing machines, refrigerators and air conditioners in the village of Merdzavan in Armavir region.  According to him, the new investment is expected to create some 60-70 new jobs with an average salary of 200 thousand drams.

The minister said also the company plans to assemble 90 thousand pieces of household appliances a year. The output is to reach 11.3 billion drams, of which 4.5 billion drams worth goods will be sold in Armenia and the rest in other countries.

In this regard, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan asked if this is the plant that he opened late last year. He said there were rumors that the plant did not operate and was a ‘fake.’

"This is not a fake plant. Its launch is being delayed because some of the equipment  was to go through customs clearance at the port of Poti in Georgia. Now it is on the way to Armenia, and the first batch of goods  will be produced within a month," said Khachatryan.

He also noted that at the first stage the goods will be assembled in Armenia, and at the second stage some parts will be produced here.

The opening of the plant took place on December 5, 2018 in the presence of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The plant is a joint Armenian-Lebanese-Syrian program
