"ARCHAEOLOGISTS DISCOVER THE TOMB OF AN UNKNOWN QUEEN IN EGYPT"
CAIRO - Czech archaeologists have unearthed - southwest of Cairo - the grave of a previously unknown queen. The researchers believe that she was the wife of Pharaoh NEFEREFRE, who ruled around 4.500 years ago.
Name and status of the women had stood on the inner walls of the tomb, said the Egyptian Minister of Antiquities, Mamdouh al-Damati. He expressed confidence that this finding could "bring light in some unknown aspects of the fifth dynasty".
According to the inscription the woman was KHENTAKAWESS (two other queens with this name are known). The dead would therefore been KHENTAKAWESS III. and died about 2.500 BCE (in the middle of the fifth dynasty).
Miroslaw Barta, director of the Czech-finding mission, said that the grave has been discovered in the tomb of NEFEREFRE in Abusir: "That's why we believe that the Queen was his wife."
During the excavations around 30 everyday objects made of limestone and copper have been found.
