First in Iran

The first cinema to open in Iran (Tabriz, 1916) belonged to Alex Sahinyan. He called the theatre Cinema Soleil. Armenians of Iran were responsible for the introduction of modern music and drama. They also excelled in boxing, weightlifting, soccer, and basketball. Iran has 150,000 Armenians (60% in Tehran) and they have two designated seats in parliament. Read More
