GAROYIAN: IT TAKES TWO TO TANGO

GIBRAHAYER e-magazineAthens News Agency - Tuesday 13 May - "It takes two to tango, and up to now Cyprus President Demetris Christofias has been dancing alone," visiting Cyprus House of Representatives president Marios Garoyian said in Athens on Monday, speaking to reporters after being received by President of the Republic Karolos Papoulias.
Garoyian, accompanied by Greek parliament president Dimitris Sioufas, said he conveyed to Papoulias the "greetings, love and respect" of President Christofias.
The Cyprus parliament leader also said he had noted to Papoulias that Christofias "has taken initiatives in the right direction, which has been appreciated by the international community".
However, he added, "there is also the factor of the standing Turkish intransigence".
"President Christofias has the political volition, and is trying to overcome the impasse. But it takes two to tango, and President Christofias is dancing alone," Garoyian stressed.
On Christofias' upcoming new meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat, Garoyian said it had to do with the fact that the "working groups have not produced tangible results", and consequently "the two leaders will meet to see where this process is stumbling".

Oh, Simon, I’m so glad you printed this letter about visiting historical Armenia. My grandparents were from Van and my mom and I have been talking about visiting there for years now, so I have to know what she says about visiting Van! If you don’t publish it, please at least send it to me because these are the issues that are disturbing us as we plan to visit Van and my paternal grandparents’ birthplace in Alasgerd.
will it be too emotional and disillusioning?
will we find anything that will connect us to our forefathers, or
will it just be a big disappointment because everything Armenian will be erased?
I’m sure many people struggle with these same issues as they think about going back there…
Ani Minasian

Dear Simon,
I was reading the gibrahayer about the AYA football team and the events happening.
I don’t know if this has been arranged, if it has then ignore me, but it would be a very nice thing for the kids at all the Nareg Schools to meet the team.
Start with the Nareg School in Nicosia, then on their way to Paphos pass by the Limassol Nareg and, on their way to Protaras visit the Larnaca Nareg.
Sebouh Vosgeritchian - Limassol

Hi Simon,
May I thank you most sincerely for all the hard work and time and effort you are putting in the e-magazine which is greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Greg Sinanian

In the article concerning the visit to Turkey... Linda Aintablian mentioned Choumkoush.... and that there was no one left... nor had she ever heard of it.
There are hundreds of Choumkoush-tsis in Lawrence and Methuen Massachusetts... and Salem, New Hampshire. They were originally all farmers and many of them became wealthy when the major highways went through their lands and paid them highly.
