August Newsletter - It's a washout!

It looks like summer's on it's way out. But, if you haven't already booked your holiday this year don't panic, because Sunvil still has lots of options available in warmer climes. If you're after a traditional beach break, check our fantastic late deals to Greece - prices start at only £369 per person; or perhaps you would prefer exploring the ancient and cultural heritage of Armenia, a former Soviet state. We have organised a one-off escorted tour departing on 7th September and places are filling up fast! Anyone after a peaceful and relaxing escape from the rat race will love our Kalamaki Villas in the tiny, seaside hamlet of Chrani on the Greece mainland - each villa has its own private pool surrounded by trees to ensure total privacy. Lastly, read why Sunvil would never consider itself a 'green' tour operator - does such a thing even exist, or is it just a clever marketing ploy?

Transcaucasian Attraction - September Escorted Tour
A one-off opportunity to explore Armenia, a country-wide open-air museum.

A former Soviet territory, Armenia has survived its transcontinental, tumultuous test of time. Land-locked by Turkey, Iran, Georgia and Azerbaijan, straddling Europe and Asia, it's renowned for its fascinating ancient and historic cultural heritage.

Sunvil Armenia has arranged an eight-night, small group escorted tour to Armenia this September, and has just a handful of places still available.

Here, in the first country to adopt Christianity (AD301), you'll spend a week travelling through a small but mighty land - a veritable open-air geological and archaeological museum. Despite the turbulence of its history, Armenia is a striking country. Its capital, Yerevan is one of the oldest cities in the world, overlooked by Mount Ararat. There are countless monasteries and churches, such as the unique 1st century Temple at Garni and the 4th-13th century cave monastery of Geghard. Lake Sevan is praised for its pure waters and stunning setting at 1900 metres above sea level and the UNESCO-classified monuments of Haghpat and Sanahin, set amidst the forest-clad hills of Alaverdi, are quite superb.

The eight-night trip, departing on 7 September, costs from £1,770 pp (two sharing) and includes flights with BMI from Heathrow to Yerevan, half Board accommodation, transfers and tours by air-conditioned minibus, English-speaking guide, all entrance fees, and a bottle of mineral water per person per day.

For further information about the tour, please email Sunvil Armenia on discovery@sunvil.co.uk or read the full itinerary on our website >

Industry News: Ecotourism - does it really exist?
At Sunvil we have always been aware of our environmental impact and have always favoured low volume, high value tourism. We are involved in a great many initiatives across the countries we feature. In the late 1990s, we were instrumental in creating the market for village based tourism in Cyprus. However, we would never dare call ourselves a 'green operator' as such a term is meaningless. We just do our best to act as responsibly as possible and make sure that as much of the 'tourist pound' we generate stays in local hands at the destinations we feature.
