Fw: LMEI Lecture: Armenology in the Context of Near Eastern Studies in the 20th Century - 5.30pm, Tuesday 19 May, SOAS




You are invited to a lecture on Armenology in the Context of Near Eastern Studies in the 20th Century. The lecture purports to mark the reintroduction of the studies of Armenian language, culture and history at SOAS. It will survey the development of Armenian Studies over the past century and assess the importance of this field for the study of other Near Eastern cultures. It will concentrate on one particular aspect of Armenian culture: the shaping of the Armenian Christian tradition in the context of the neighbouring civilisations.
