Genocide Commemoration In Montebello
Montebello, CA, Thursday, April 24, 2014 - A 99th Armenian Genocide com- memoration event was organized by Cali- fornia based “United Armenian Council” organization which consists of more than 55 Armenian organizations. Commemora- tion event started at 1.30 pm afternoon. Or- ganization spokespersons Arus Kazarian and Pete Haik presented all participating Armenian organizations and invited them to place their wreath on the Montebello Ar- menian Genocide monument, after the clergy ritual ceremony commemorating the Genocide victims. Key note speakers were Rose Mary Abousefian and prof. Vahram Shammasian.

PanARMENIAN.Net - Only a week after expressing condolences ahead of the 99th anniversary of the Armenian Geno- cide, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said “the small Armenian community still living in Turkey was proof that there was no Genocide in the past,” Hurriyet Daily News reported.
menians still living in Turkey,” Erdogan said, reiterating that Ankara was ready to open its historical archives.
Speaking in an interview with Charlie Rose from PBS, Erdogan said “what hap- pened in 1915 could not be described as Genocide.”
“We see genocide as a crime against hu- manity. We will never shut our eyes to it. We are ready to open our archives. Arme- nia and other third party countries should do it too,” he said, adding if documents prove it, then Turkey would apologize.
The National Assembly voted over- whelmingly to elect Galust Sahakian, the longtime parliamentary leader of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), as its new speaker on Tuesday.
“This is not possible. Because if there were a genocide, [there would not be] Ar-
“These events did not happen under the Turkish Republic, but the Ottoman Empire. If the documents show it, then we will not avoid apologizing and accepting the conse- quences,” he said.
Israel Has Moral Duty To Recognize
Sahakian, whose candidacy for the va- cant post was proposed by President Serzh Sarkisian, was backed 103 members of the 131-seat parliament. His sole challenger, maverick opposition deputy Hrant Bagrat- ian, received only 3 votes.
Armenian Genocide
At the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem, the message of condolence issued by Turk- ish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the Armenian people on April 23, the eve of the 99th anniversary of the Armenian genocide, was closely examined. What will Israel do now? Will it continue to fence-sit on the issue of recognizing the disaster that befell the Armenian people, caught be- tween taking a moral stand and avoiding angering the Turks? If Erdogan can afford to change the Turkish attitude toward this sensitive issue, perhaps it’s time for Israel to adopt a clearer and more decisive stance.
miss a chance to lash out at it? How will the Foreign Ministry explain a decision to rec- ognize the Armenian genocide, after argu- ing for years that one must examine this sensitive issue “through an open debate based on data and facts, and not on political decisions or declarations.” This is what Likud Minister Gilad Erdan said in a 2009 speech delivered at the Knesset, asking in the government’s name to remove from the agenda the issue of recognizing the Armen- ian genocide.

“Distinguished guests and fellow citi- zens, it is my privilege and honor to speak to you on behalf of the United Armenian Council of Los Angeles, which is the um- brella organization of some fifty-five or- ganizations charged with the annual commemoration of the Armenian Genocide in the southland. Here are some of the main ideas and activities that we subscribe to:
German Media Begins To Use “Armenian Genocide” Term More Frequently
article entitled “The condolences of Erdo- gan is abuse for all the Armenians” focus.de reacts on Erdogan’s statement and passes the assessments according to which it is a “hypocritical” behavior on his part. The pe- riodical first reacts on the observations of the Turkologist Udo Steinbach on that Er- dogan is the first Prime Minister who ex- pressed his condolences to the generations of the crime victims. Moreover, the author also uses “Genocide” term while transfer- ring the observations of the Turkologist.
We believe in the revival and nurturing of Armenian family trees across the globe and rejoining their roots with those that continue to beckon their blood kin found in the Armenian highlands and valleys that span Turkey today.
“A very productive meeting took place between His Eminence Archbishop Hov- nan Derderian and one of the candidates for the Office of Sheriff of L.A. Mr. Paul Tanaka.
The international media continues to keep under the focus the 99th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and the events devoted to it. Meanwhile, the Armenian Mets Yeghern is commemorated by more and more media in the term “genocide”.
We believe in the diversification and ex- pansion of venues of communication with Turkish civil society to promote under- standing about the genocide, and how to rectify this terrible wrong.
Mr. Tanaka is Mayor of city of Gardenia where next year an Armenian Khatchkar is being erected in memory of the victims of Armenian Genocide. The election for the office of the Sheriff of L.A. is on 3rd of June.

Armenian Genocide Featured At The 44th
By Doris & Arda Melkonian

Annual Scholars’ Conference
Armenian Women Veterans
On the eve of the Armenian Genocide Centennial, the 44th Annual Scholars’ Con- ference (ASC) on the Holocaust and the Churches featured the first Genocide of the 20th century, adopting the theme, Remem- bering for the Future: Armenia, Auschwitz and Beyond. Rev. Dr. Henry Knight (Pro- fessor, Keene State University), President of the Annual Scholars’ Conference com- mented, "Our theme for this year's ASC in- vited us to examine the Genocide of the Armenian people while continuing to sus- tain our four decades of examining ques- tions and issues raised by the Holocaust. By having more than an occasional session de- voted to their distinctive traumas, each of the communities represented at this year's gathering grew in their grasp of the issues uniquely at stake in their respective histo- ries.”
likowski explained that while a new sensi- tivity to and awareness of many issues within the Christian community has devel- oped, there has yet to be a movement from awareness to genocide prevention. Dr. Ho- vannisian shared that increased knowledge and awareness has not led to prevention since governments have not found it in their self-perceived national interest to im- plement punishment for genocide. Dr. Knight added that the world has become complex and the tools for detecting signals of genocide have also become complex. He underscored the need to spot genocide signposts early in order to effectively pre- vent killings. Dr. Berenbaum explained that governmental inaction to prevent genocide is not related to matters of conscience but to a lack of political will.
The Unsung And Unrecognized Heroes
Manushak Abgaryan, among the sur- vivors, raised her twin daughters, Arusyak and Suzanna, without any support after losing her husband. The vivacious teenagers have music aspirations, attend- ing Avet Gabrielyan’s Art School in Yere- van, with a big dream to have their own music studio one day. The mother continu- ally struggles to pay for their tuition at the art school, and reached out to AIWA-SF to give the girls the opportunity to complete their music education.
The historic event, hosted by the Amer- ican Jewish University, Los Angeles, on March 8-11, 2014, brought together scholars of the Armenian Genocide and Jewish Holocaust in an interdisciplinary, interna- tional, interfaith and intergenerational con- ference. It provided a unique forum for scholars to highlight the events of the Genocide and Holocaust, and to discuss the implications of these tragedies, the impact on subsequent generations, and the neces- sity of genocide and holocaust education and prevention.
Many Armenian women fought in the Artsakh Liberation War in Nagorno- Karabakh years ago. Some of them served as nurses and saved lives. Others simply joined to fight in the front-line for their country. A few miraculously survived and returned home to a future threatened by poverty, unemployment, and loneliness. The once courageous fighters, are vulnera- ble and shattered human beings today, barely making two ends meet, living in ex- treme poverty, devastated, neglected and with no hope for a better future. They do not receive any support from the Armenian government, no recognition for their con- tributions to the war, and continually strug- gle to create stability for themselves and their families.
These heroes have a unique perspective that is outside of the accepted role of an Ar- menian woman, and the AIWA-SF team is proud to be able to help them, reviving the hope that was lost long ago.
Dr. Marcia Sachs Littell (Professor, Stockton College), Vice-President of the An- nual Scholars’ Conference, and wife of the late Rev. Dr. Franklin Littell (Co-founder of the Conference), emphasized the historical significance of the Armenian Genocide in relation to the Holocaust. “The Armenian Genocide, the first Genocide of the Twenti- eth Century, sent a message to Adolf Hitler, that he could do anything he wanted and the world would not protest.”
Please meet these brave and at the same time vulnerable women, and listen to their absolutely heartbreaking stories in this short video, produced by an Armenian teenager, Max Gouchian, who has been a tremendous support to AIWA-SF in this undertaking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuT abGrWg2Y .
them and their families in a more mean- ingful way in the future.
Several papers, presented by Armenian and non-Armenian scholars, focused on the Armenian Genocide, addressing topics such as religion, literature, trauma, altru- ism, denial, reconciliation, and risk analy- sis. Armenian scholars from Armenia, Germany, Italy, and various US universities and centers participated in the conference: Ishkhan Chiftjian (Leipzig University & Hamburg University), Richard Dekmejian (Professor, USC), Khachatur Gasparyan (Professor, Yerevan State Medical Univer- sity), Sona Haroutyunian (Professor, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice), Marc Mamigonian (Academic Affairs Director, National Association for Armenian Studies and Research), Arda Melkonian (Graduate Student, UCLA), Doris Melkonian (Gradu- ate Student, UCLA), Garabet Moumdjian (UCLA), Rubina Peroomian (UCLA), and Vahram Shemmassian (Professor, CSUN).
Artsakh Liberty War Veterans: Hasmik Matevosyan, Manushak Abgaryan, Nazani Hovhakanyan, Araksya Galstyan, Karine Ghazarian
With the generous contribution of long- standing supporters of AIWA-SF, Rouben and Sofia Amirbekians, the organization was able to provide tuition assistance to the disadvantaged teenage girls, who will now be able to continue their music education, and graduate next year, with the hope of re- alizing their dreams.
The opening plenary session, “A Cen- tury of Genocide: What Have We Learned?” allowed for a conversation among clergy and scholars from diverse backgrounds. The panelists, representing different denominations and ethnic groups, Father Dr. John Pawlikowski (Professor, Catholic Theological Union), Dr. Richard Hovannisian (Professor Emeritus, UCLA), Rev. Dr. Henry Knight, and Rabbi Dr. Michael Berenbaum (Professor, American Jewish University) provided unique per- spectives to the question posed. Dr. Paw-

Ararat-Eskijian-Museum Lecture To Focus On Armenians, Assyrians In Iran’s Urmia Region
On Sunday, May 4th, Dr. Nicholas Al-Jeloo will give a lecture entitled, “Armenian and Assyrian Cooperation and Co-Habitation in Iran’s Urmia Region,” beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Ararat-Eskijian Museum-Sheen Chapel 15105 Mission Hills Road, Mis- sion Hills Ca, 91345
Dr. Al-Jeloo’s illustrated lecture represents an all-too-rare opportunity to learn about the inter-twined history of the Armenians and Assyrians of the Urmia region. A great deal of information and research has enlightened our understanding of Ar- menians from Isfahan, Iran; however, little information exists in English about Ar- menians living in other parts of Iran, including Armenians in Tabriz, a prosperous and important urban community. Much of the information about Armenians on the Urmia plain comes from Assyrian memoirs and histories.
Dr. Nicholas Al-Jeloo is an Australian-Assyrian whose high-quality photographs have been used in art and history books about the Middle East, such as in Christoph Baumer’s The Church of the East: An Illustrated History of Assyrian Christianity (I.B. Tauris, 2006). He received his Ph.D. in Assyrian/Syriac studies from the University of Sydney this year and holds an MA from Leiden University.

Nor Or Weekly - Thursday May 1, 2014 9 PBS SoCal PLUS (50.2) TO PREMIERE "TUMO: CHANGE STARTS WITHIN ARMENIA"
Former AP Photographer Harry Koundakjian Dies By DEEPTI HAJELA Associated Press
LOS ANGELES—PBS SoCal Plus will premiere a half hour documentary, titled “Tumo: Change Starts within Armenia,” on May 4 at 6 pm Pacific Standard Time. The documentary focuses on how Yerevan’s Tumo Center for Creative Technologies was established in Armenia to introduce alter- native career paths to teenagers in order to help change the socioeconomic situation and ultimately leapfrog the country from the consequences of its succession from the Soviet Union. Given a technology savvy platform and the right tools, a new gener- ation of Armenians use creativity to map their future with hopes to compete in the global marketplace from within a land- locked country.
Due to the technology-based educa- tional development content and high qual- ity production, the program has received a prime time broadcasting slot on PBS SoCal Plus which is widely available over the air on channel 50.2 in Los Angeles, Orange County, Valley areas and Santa Barbara. Cable or Satellite television subscribers can find PBS SoCal Plus on channels through Charter Communications 314, Cox Communications 810, Time Warner 235, and Verizon Fios 470.
Harry Koundakjian, a former photographer and photo editor for The Associated Press in the Middle East and New York City, has died. He was 83. Koundakjian died Monday at a Manhattan hospital, from complications of open heart surgery he had in February, his daughter, Lola Koundakjian, said. Born in Syria, Koundakjian finished high school in Lebanon. He began work there for The Associated Press in the 1960s, first as a freelancer and then as a staffer in 1969.
Made as a Zealpix production, director Vahe Babaian and producer Bérj Beramian traveled to Yerevan, Armenia, to film the documentary, and through their journey captured the opulence and the challenges of a place called Tumo Center for Creative Technologies. Tumo attracts students from all over Yerevan from a variety of social, socioeconomic and experience level back- grounds. It is the only center of its kind in the region provided as a free after school program and one that utilizes a technol- ogy-based, virtual learning environment known as Tumo World and workshops to introduce kids to animation, video game development, digital media and web devel- opment, including other multi-disciplinary platforms such as cross collaboration, dis- tance learning, leadership training and other skills that are necessary for individ- uals to compete in a global marketplace. The documentary is in English and Armen- ian with subtitled versions in English, Ar- menian, French and Spanish. Zealpix is currently working on distribution of the documentary in various regions of North and South America, Europe, Armenia and Russia.
Zealpix is anticipating a large viewer- ship during the broadcast of “Tumo: Change Starts within Armenia” on PBS SoCal Plus. A community audience in the Southern California region would help rat- ings during the show and hopefully estab- lish some demand for similar programs. Zealpix is an experienced developer of fea- ture films and documentaries as a produc- tion company with an established track record in film production.
French President To Visit Armenia Next April To Participate In Centenary Of Armenian Genocide
YEREVAN, April 25. /ARKA/ - French President Francois Hollande plans to visit Ar- menia next April to participate in events that will mark the centennial anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, Arm News TV channel reported.
He photographed news events throughout the Middle East and Europe, including war in Lebanon, the Olympics in Germany, and the 1978 wedding of King Hussein of Jordan to his fourth wife, Queen Noor.
The French president said he would work on the international recognition of the Ar- menian Genocide. According to him, what happened in 1915 in Turkey has one name - genocide.
In 1979, he and his family moved to New York City, where he was a photo editor for the AP until his retirement in 2006. Koundakjian's career was his life and his colleagues be- came close family friends, his daughter said. "He brought his career home in a positive way," she said.
The Armenian genocide was the first genocide committed in XX century. Turkey denies the accusation of massacres and the killing of 1,5 million Armenians during World War I. The Armenian genocide is recognized by many countries, particularly by Uruguay, Rus- sia, Germany, France, Netherlands, Vatican, Lithuania, Slovakia, Sweden, Venezuela, Lebanon, 42 of the U.S. states, as well as by the parliaments of Greece, Cyprus, Argentina, Belgium, National Council of Switzerland, Common House of Canada, the Sejm of Poland, lower house of Italian parliament, European Parliament, World Council of Churches.
Survivors also include his wife and a son.
10 Nor Or Weekly - Thursday May 1, 2014 Uncovering Traces
By Ani Hovannisian Kevorkian
Leaving Cilicia and heading toward the heart of our his- toric lands, it had become unusually normal to come face to face with the previously unfathomable. I walked down the murky streets of Dikranagerd with my adventurous co- travelers, Elaine and Claire. We had decided to use our hour of rest-time to explore the city streets alone, against the better judgment of Armen, who always had our safety in mind. Dikranagerd, he knew, was not a place for us to venture out on our own. But, we did.
then responded, “They don’t say we did it, and we know they did. We don’t talk about that, or our life will be hard. We live here. This is their country and their stage.” As I told her that in Armenian, we say, “Menk Hai enk,” she re- peated those words meaning “We are Armenian.” Bidding farewell, Dilan said, “I very love you, sisters.” And so it goes, lost, found, and I can’t help but believe, lost again.
Just when I thought that this was an extraordinary ex- perience... the young man working at the hotel’s front desk and then the bellman, everyone, it seemed, had an Armen- ian grandmother, grandfather, great-grandmother or father. This generation of youth seemed to hold a piece or two of the puzzle, just enough to not want to have or know more, just close enough to keep it far away. After less-than- comfortable prodding, the front desk clerk who described himself as “1/2 Turkish, 1⁄2 Kurdish, we are in the middle,” verbalized his internal conflict.
into, were Armenian eyes?
BABI YEV MAMI
Here is where I had planned to start this entry, as I set foot on the soil I had heard about all my life, Babi Kaspar’s Bazmashen and Grandma Siroon’s Kesserig in Kharpert, Babi Hovakim’s Dzitogh in Erzerum, and Mami Chnkuhi’s Ordu on the Black Sea. I thought I’d write about the dev- astation that overcame me when I laid eyes on the thor- oughly flattened village of Bazmashen, now nothing more than an empty field with a pile of rubble where Sourp (Saint) Mariam Asdvadzadzin used to stand, and a lone donkey, a donkey with whom I had a conversation, and a covered woman who appeared out of nowhere and told me that the Armenians used to live here, as she led me to the outdoor fountain of her house in “New Bazmashen,” saying “This is left from the Armenians.” I thought I’d write of the moment when my father, walking ten feet in front of me, bent over and picked up a rock, and signaled to me that we were standing in front of Babi Hovakim’s house in Dz- itogh, the village he had left as a teenager to avoid con- scription into the Ottoman Army, and had returned to as an Armenian defense volunteer with Generals Antranig and Keri, as had Babi Kaspar, to find that no one remained in his village, none of the 3,000 residents, none of his eight sib- lings, parents.... no one. I thought I’d write of the cow and chickens that lived in the house where Babi had spent his childhood, and from where I let one of the chickens fly the coop, releasing it to freedom. How silly it sounds, but how good it felt to save a chicken, if only in my mind. I thought I’d write about Grandma Siroon’s Kesserig, where I saw my shadow on the empty plot where the church used to stand, and where I searched for the legendary cabbage she used to speak of, but which I never found. I thought I’d write of Mami Chnkuhi’s Ordu overlooking the Black Sea, the most picturesque of all the towns, where I couldn’t contain my- self as I stood under a tree, gazing at the stately three-sto- ried stone building that used to be the Armenian school thriving with vibrant children before it turned into the or- phanage where my beautiful Mami, lost from her childhood and family, lived as a seven-year-old girl. These stories, these people, my grandparents, have no beginning and no end. So, I neither begin nor end with their stories. They live in me, in their children, 22 grandchildren, 62 great- grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and in those who chose to remember.
End Cont. from last issue
“MY GRANDPA WAS ARMENIAN,” DILAN IN DIKARANAGERD
“I’m not curious about our history... These aren’t sweet memories, in the way that I don’t want to learn anything about it. “ When I asked what aren’t sweet memories, he re- sponded, “Many Armenian people killed by other people. I know that, and they fired Armenian people’s homes. When I talk, I feel something different, in a way that I don’t want to talk about it.” “How does it make you feel?,” I asked. “Now, I feel emotional. If I can request, could we cut this video?“ I did.
“KHATERI HAMAR,” DEGEEN BAYDZAR
I had asked if there were any full Armenians left. My encounters with the young led me to the oldest and one of the only living Armenians left in Dikranagerd. Early the next morning, before our group was to leave for Kharpert, I and two others went in search of the Assyrian Church, where, I had been told, an Armenian lives. My knocks on the massive door to the church grounds were met by a small, Armenian-looking woman who welcomed us in, and called herself Baydzar Alata. She, and her husband, Sarkis, had been living in the courtyard of the Assyrian church for 25 years. When I saw her, it was as if I had found my grand- mother. But, I had never lost my grandmother. She, on the other hand, had lost almost everything. In broken Armen- ian, she said that there is no one left to talk to, so she has for- gotten much of the language. “The Turks did what they did,” she said. She embraced us as her own, while the res- ident cat vied for her attention. Sitting in the shade of the garden, and then taking us inside her humble abode, Degeen Baydzar shared what was left of her life and past; stories, a few photographs, and shawls she had knitted, which she put on our shoulders with love, saying “Khateri hamar.” Degeen Baydzar also confirmed what I had al- ready experienced. “There are many,” she explained, “whose parents and grandparents were Armenian, but they died, were killed, forgot. Now, their children have turned into Turks. There are very many like that.” I wasn’t ready to leave, but had to. “Parov yeger ek, parov katseek, Ghourban eh,” were Degeen Baydzar‘s parting words of goodwill. So I left Degeen Baydzar and Dikranagerd, with yet another layer of understanding, pain, and unanswer- able questions. Whose, of those countless eyes I looked
99th Armenian Genocide Commemoration In Montebello
Cont. from p.7
Out of nowhere, a spirited girl with telling dark eye- brows and big brown eyes stopped us in the middle of the sidewalk, and asked, “Do you speak English?” “Yes,” we answered. I asked what nationality she is. “My Grandpa,” she said, “was Armenian.” Startled, I responded, ” We are Armenian.” “We are sisters, then,” she exclaimed. “Maybe we are a little bit Turkish, a little bit Kurdish, but we are the same. That is important.” The chance meeting on the street led to a conversation over Turkish, or Armenian, coffee in an open- air café inside the bazaar. 20-year-old Dilan’s sur- prised parents, her mother, a Kurd, and her father, a 3/4 Kurd and 1/4 Armenian, were unsuspecting participants in this encounter. I’m not sure they would have chosen to join the exchange, but their daughter gave them little choice. As I asked questions, probably questions that no one had ever asked them before, she turned to her parents for answers. A piece of them wanted her and us to know the truth. A piece of them didn’t. This was, after all, their home. They had gone on with life.
Dilan learned that day, as did we, that her great-grand- father Mustafa’s Armenian name had been ‘”Ardzou,” per- haps “Ardziv,” I thought. She learned that his father, mother, sister and uncle had been killed in Mush, and that he had escaped. He had ‘turned’ from Christian to Muslim, from Ardzou to Mustafa, from one person to another, in order to survive. And so Dilan, with at least a branch of an Armenian blood-line, was born and grew up as a Muslim, a Kurd, as did how many others?
When I asked Dilan if and when she learned the word, ‘genocide,’ she looked upward and thought for a moment,
We believe in lending full support to the Republic of Armenia for it to be able to overcome its myriad domestic difficulties and strengthen its hand in foreign affairs, especially in the pursuit of the recognition and just resolution of the Armenian Geno- cide.

genocide is as important as the 100th an- niversary to be marked next year, and 2016 and beyond will be even more important than the year 2015. It is this continuum with accelerated rigor and resolve that will lead us to the achievement of our ultimate goal: The recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Turkey and the return of every single asset that belongs to the Armenian people.”
We believe in the exertion of all efforts at preserving Armenian cultural monu- ments in Turkey and neighboring coun- tries, with the full understanding that those edifices are an integral part of world civi- lization. Any willful destruction, misuse or negligence, therefore, must be condemned in the strongest means possible.
We believe in the augmentation of the number of Armenian day schools, multi- plication of charter schools, and incorpora- tion of additional Armenian programs in public schools to usher in a revival of Ar- menian consciousness as a guarantor of the nation’s perpetuity in the foreseeable future and beyond.
We believe in the condemnation of the application of euphemisms and double standards by governments, organizations and/or individuals when dealing with the Armenian Genocide - any genocide - for such treatment is tantamount to denial and collaboration. Human life is incomparably more valuable than oil, gold, or so-called national interest.
Present were US government officials at the ceremony, where Congressman Adam Schiff spoke about the necessity of recog- nizing the Armenian Genocide by nations of the world, and the United States. Paul Krekorian, L A city council member was also present and Newly elected Glendale city mayor Zareh Sinanian and 46th district assembly member Adrin Nazarian also spoke at the event.
We believe in the preservation, strengthening, and perpetuation of the Ar- menian language, considering it as a major victim of the Genocide as well as one of the main foundations of Armenian identity. It must also be understood that bilingualism
We believe in the intensification of re- search in modern Armenian history and re- lated fields within the larger context of world history, not to prove the veracity of the genocide yet again, but to understand, among numerous other important issues, the inner-makings of the human mind with the specific purpose of detecting and, if possible, putting a stop to red signals that
Last but not least, we believe in taking legal action, both by the Republic of Arme- nia and the Armenian Diaspora, at interna- tional courts, making sure that adjudications are not made under threats, pressure and/or through bribery on the part of Turkey or its instruments.
iting the denial and deniers of the Armen- ian Genocide with utmost vigilance.
