Armenian News...@... Concert in National Trust Property on 26 April 2015 with the participation of Armenian composer, musicians and actor

575 Wandsworth Road welcomes Composer in Residence

National Trust property 575 Wandsworth Road has partnered with
the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) to launch a new
Composer in Residence scheme. It will bring together and celebrate
the creative work of the late Kenyan-born poet, novelist, philosopher
of mathematics and British civil servant, Khadambi Asalache
alongside the work of one of today’s leading emerging composers,
Cevanne Horrocks-Hopayian.

The residency will take place at the house of Khadambi Asalache
(575 Wandsworth Road), which he converted into a work of art,
embellishing almost every wall, ceiling and door with exquisite
hand-carved fretwork patterns and motifs.

Cevanne Horrocks-Hopayian, a LSO Soundhub associate,
premiered her first piece of music inspired by the house at the
launch on 9 March 2015. The captivating composition, combining
a recording of Asalache’s thumb piano with extracts from his poems,
featured the renowned LSO violinist, Tom Norris.

Workshops and public sharing sessions …

Cevanne, the house’s first Composer in Residence, will use her
two-year residency working with LSO musicians to meaningfully
interpret the history of the house and the exquisite work of Asalache.
Workshops will engage local communities and bring a new
perspective on the house. Members of the local community will be
invited to attend workshops with Cevanne and LSO musicians during
the first year of the residency. We will be sharing the results of these
on the following dates:
