To mark the introduction of Armenian studies at SOAS, Dr Igor Dorfmann-Lazarev will give a lecture entitled ‘Armenology in the Context of Near Eastern Studies in the 20th Century’. It will survey the development of Armenian Studies over the past century and assess the importance of this field for the study of other Near Eastern cultures. It will concentrate on one particular aspect of Armenian culture: the shaping of the Armenian Christian tradition in the context of the neighbouring civilisations.
