One week separates us from the scheduled "ratification" of the infamous Protocols. The message below the map was sent to professors and lecturers in Canada to inform
them of what's involved and to solicit their support. Please note that there are several similar initiatives in Australia, South America, USA and most importantly in Europe. You may also participate in the latter petition by clicking on APPEL - ՈՉ - PETITION .
Please show your solidarity in this Pan-Armenian effort to neutralize the detrimental clauses and conditions included in the Protocols.
You don't want this to happen, so TAKE ACTION!

Dear Professors and Lecturers,
Two weeks ago you received a vital petition in which your support was requested to combat the ratification of the misguided and detrimental Protocols between Armenia and Turkey. In this regard your esteemed attention is drawn to an open letter (30 September 2009) written by renowned genocide scholar Prof. Roger W. Smith, addressed to Serzh Sargsyan, President of Armenia (http://www.keghart.com/node/683). Prof. Smith strongly objects to the inclusion of "sub-commission" of historians in the Protocols.
The documents are slated to be ratified a week from today. The vast majority of the Armenians in the Diaspora, the descendants of the Genocide, strongly oppose the clauses related to the "sub-committee", and view them as being designed to cast doubt on the veracity of the genocide--a disguised form of denial--the last stage of genocide.
We once again submit the petition--in case you were unable to sign in your support to the earlier petition.

Petition Opposing Some Provisions in the Protocols

16 September 2009, Canada

http://www.keghart.com/content/petition-opposing-some-provisions-protocols

We, the signatories, are in agreement with establishing neighbourly international relations between Armenia and Turkey and the lifting of the Turkish blockade. However, we strongly oppose specific stipulations outlined in the Protocols of 31 August 2009 that

  • Include provisions for a sub-commission of historians, thus questioning the veracity of the Genocide of the Armenians,
  • Recognize only the principle of territorial integrity to the exclusion of the principle of self-determination, effectively legitimizing Turkey's illegal occupation of Western Armenia, the appropriation of Armenian property, land, historic, cultural, and religious monuments, and jeopardizing the future of Nagorno-Karabagh.
Most Diaspora Armenians are descendants of the Genocide committed by the Ottoman Turks and oppose these potentially deleterious conditions. To protest against their inclusion in the Protocols, we call upon our compatriots in Europe to galvanize all concerned, democratic and progressive forces, including Armenian parties, associations, and non-affiliated individuals and to organize a peaceful march in Sèvres, in Paris and in Lausanne, Switzerland.
