Eve Kevorkian Mekerdichian I appreciate the education as a lay person I figured it was a shot. The only thing I know about genetics is that I married the only Armenian I know there is no way I'm related to in any way shape or form. His family has a 400 year history in Iran.

Armen Martirosian You made a logical assumption that does indeed have a basis in part of what we're doing. Investigative genetics isn't just about population studies for regional affiliation but also involves studying health, immune compatibility, drug resistance, disease prominence, etc.

Andre Yeto They would not accept any other way because they know better that the land does not belong to them at all,,,why so their historians still keep teaching them that Turks first steped in Armenia over Malazgert in 1071 AD...theirs is a total joke.

In September 2001, the massive St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral was completed in celebration of the 1700th anniversary of Christianity in Armenia. The main cathedral seats the symbolic number of 1,700 worshippers, and there are two large chapels near the entrance which are primarily for weddings. The holy remains of St. Gregory were brought from Italy in time for the opening, and Pope John Paul II came to pay an official visit shortly after the consecration.

Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral (Armenian: Սուրբ Գրիգոր Լուսավորիչ Մայր Տաճար, Surb Grigor Lusavorich Mayr Tachar) is the largest Armenian church in the world, located in the Kentron District of Yerevan, Armenia.

The cathedral is built with orange-coloured tufa stones from Ani.

The consecration of the Cathedral – the symbol of the 1700th anniversary of the proclamation of Christianity as a state religion in Armenia – took place on September 23, 2001, and now, with its sublime beauty and majesty, the cathedral is visible from numerous corners of Yerevan.

Designed by architect Stepan Kurkchyan, the huge Cathedral is a complex consisting of three churches: the Cathedral (Main Church) with 1700 seats and the Chapels of St. King Trdat III (Tiridates) and of Saint Ashkhen the Queen (both with 150 seats). The king and his queen, together with the king's sister Khosorovidukht, were the crucial helpers of St. Gregory in converting Armenia to Christianity.
