Turks Celebrate at Armenian Genocide Demonstration‏

The video below shows Turkish demonstrators celebrating in front of the Turkish Embassy in Washington, D.C., on April 24th, the day of remembrance for the Armenian Genocide. The protesters taunted Armenian-Americans who had gathered there to call on Turkey to recognize the Armenian Genocide. Following the protest, the Turkish Ambassador to the United States, Namik Tan, welcomed the Turkish demonstrators into the embassy.

The scene is a haunting illustration of the words of renowned Holocaust and genocide scholar, Israel Charny, who said denial of genocide is to "celebrate the deaths of the same victims and to intimate cynically that the doctrine of power which brought about their destruction is still in force, to be used when opportunity permits."

In light of Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan's recent threats to deport undocumented Armenians from Turkey, as a response to the passage of Armenian Genocide resolutions, the behavior displayed in the video shines a spotlight on the importance of fighting against U.S. complicity in Turkey's dangerous campaign of denial.

Thank you for this insightful pieces of recordings...I send my heartfelt and deep thanks to those Academics and ordinary Turks who have participated in these recording at the risk of their own lives.
