TURKISH POLICE REVEAL ASSASSINATION PLOT AGAINST A.R.F. DASHNAKTSOUTIUN LEADER VISITING TURKEY IN 2009

TARGET: Armenian Member of Parliament
Ara Nranyan

ANKARA, Turkey (A.W.) - Turkish security forces provided details of plots by a Turkish terrorist group planning to assassinate ARF members visiting Turkey and attack Kurdish targets, reported the Turkish daily newspaper Zaman.
The Turkish Revenge Brigades planned attacks on ARF Dashnaktsoutiun members. According to the police report, one such plot dated back to March 22, 2009, when members of the Turkish Revenge Brigades (Turk Intikam Birligi Teskilatı) Mutlu Erdogan and Onur [full name not provided] discussed over the phone the entry of an ARF member into Turkey and his acquisition of a cell phone number. Responding to the information provided by Onur, Erdogan advised him to lay low for a few months, because he suspects that security forces are following them. “Let a few months pass and we will slowly begin conducting operations; we won’t stand idly by,” he adds.
The Armenian Weekly was unable to independently confirm the identity of the Dashnak member mentioned in the March 22 conversation. In the phone conversation log, he is referred to as the head of the Dashnak Party’s political committee (Dashnak Partisi'nin Siyasi Komite Bashkanı). No one in the organisation’s leadership holds such a title, and no member of the ARF Dashnaktsoutiun's top leadership has entered Turkey in recent years. It is likely that the target in March 2009 was the member of the ARF Dashnaktsoutiun's parliamentary bloc in the Armenian National Assembly Ara Nranyan, who was in Turkey for a meeting of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC).
The ARF Dashnaktsoutiun Bureau Press Office expressed concern over the fact that information about Nraniyan’s entry to Turkey was available to a terrorist organization, noting that such information could have only been provided by the Turkish state.
The only other Dashnak “heads” visiting Turkey are Editors/Directors of ARF Dashnaktsoutiun's media, as well as reporters of the Yerevan-based Yerkir Media, who visit Turkey several times a year to conduct interviews and prepare special reports and documentaries.
The police report notes the connection between Ergenekon and the Brigades, and also cites planned attacks, also against Kurdish and Christian targets.

DASHNAKTSOUTIUN LOOKING INTO ASSASSINATION PLOT BUT "NOT SURPRISED" SAYS GIRO MANOYAN

“In a country where someone like Hrant Dink who was
considered a "dove" by most, was gunned down in broad daylight,
we wouldn’t be surprised that a member of ARF Dashnaktsoutiun
- generally viewed in Turkey as the "hawks" - would be targeted”

Giro Manoyan

YEREVAN (Armenian Weekly) - ARF Dashnaktsoutiun political affairs Director Giro Manoyan expressed concern over the possibility that a source within the Turkish government leaked to a terrorist group, information on the visit of a Dashnak member to Turkey.
“In a country where some like Hrant Dink who was considered a "dove" by most was gunned down in broad daylight, we wouldn’t be surprised that a member of ARF Dashnaktsoutiun - generally viewed in Turkey as the "hawks," would be targeted,” Manoyan noted.
“It has already been reported that Ara Nranyan, a member of the ARF faction in Armenia’s National Assembly, visited Turkey a couple of weeks before the reported conversation, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation. Nranyan’s visit was not secret, but it was not a high profile visit either. So, it is possible that the information the alleged plotters had was from a source within the Turkish government,” Manoyan said in an interview with the Armenian Weekly.
“We are taking the issue seriously and looking into it, trying to find out as much information as possible,” he added.
Earlier this week, Turkish security forces had provided details of plots by a Turkish terrorist group planning to assassinate Dashnaktsoutiun members visiting Turkey and attack Kurdish targets. The police report notes the connection between Ergenekon and the Brigades, and also cites planned attacks against Kurdish and Christian targets.

GIBRAHAYER e-magazineTHE PRICE OF HUMAN LIFE
PROF. HOVHANNES PILIKIAN

Professor Hovhanness Pilikian is an Armenian scholar who was a friend of the late Hrant Dink, the Armenian journalist who was assassinated in Turkey in 2007. In November Amnesty International reported that the Court of Human Rights has ruled Turkey failed to protext the life of Hrant and must pay his family 105,000 Euros compensation. Here is Hovhanness' response.

Hrant Dink – I knew him well, Horatio … Alive, he was one man who could reconcile the Armenians with their genociders, the Turks. Hrant was murdered in Turkey in 2007 by those who obviously do not want such a deal. The killers? As with all political assassinations anywhere in the world, you might safely start with the CIA … I should be delighted that the European Union Court of Human Rights has ordered a compensation to the family of 105,000 Euros – the precision is jaw-dropping, why not as the British do add 3 Pounds and 3 pence for postage ... or make it a Fiver if you feel generous today!
There is a spine chilling sordidness about this news I find despicable – the shamelessness that any committee can decide the price of a priceless human being. For me, not even a billion is enough as a price tag for my friend Hrant Dink. As during the times of Slavery, there may soon arise a hierarchy of price tags – what price a Dr. Kelly, the British UN weapons inspector in Iraq? What’s the price tag for Allende, the once democratically elected President of Peru murdered by now the self-confessed CIA braggarts? Should the European Court force our Mrs. Thatcher still alive pay the Compensation, as she was the defiant defender of the arch-murderer Pinochet, when he was arrested in London?

FILE PHOTO Journalist, Hrant Dink, Shot Dead In Istanbul

In the Marxist system of Das Kapital, everything, but everything has a price – when it comes to Money –making, there is no ethics, no common humane decencies; Profit is the only interest (pun intended!) of transactions. And I think it is this which makes me despise it – the commoditization of the human being, which is what gave rise to formal Slavery in the first place, and post-modern whoredom today. While I welcome the EU decision – it may even be a first in historical terms evaluating the dead (not only compensating the injured) – I abhor its grand formalization of the capitalist commoditization of human beings. Hitherto the dead were commemorated in stone, public sculptures and poetry. Now, political assassinations are turned into a profitable business. And this sends chills down my spine.

VIDEO OF THE WEEK:
AUSTRIAN MP EWALD STADLER SLAMS
AT TURKISH AMBASSADOR IN AUSTRIA
Recently the Turkish ambassador in Austria Ecvet Tezcan gave an interview in which he told the Austrian home secretary to “stop intervening in the integration process”. He then claimed Turks were treated like a virus and blamed the Austrians for all the problems surrounding the non-integration of Turks.
These remarks met a strong response from BZO Parliamentarian Ewald Stadler.

ARF DASHNAKTSOUTIUN NOT
TO REJOIN RULING COALITION

GIBRAHAYER e-magazineDecember 03, 2010 (Gibrahayer e-magazine and combined Armenian media sources in Yerevan) - The fact that Armenia has not withdrawn its signature from the Armenia -Turkey Protocols, means that the Protocols are still in effect, Giro Manoyan, Head of the Hay Tad ARF Dashnaktsoutiun office told journalists on Friday.
He pointed out that this was the reason that the ARF Dashnaktsoutiun had withdrawn from the governing coalition on April 22, 2009, and went on to state that ARF Dashnaktsoutiun
has no intention of re-joining the ruling coalition but will collaborate with it on issues that it considers vital for Armenia.
“Even when the Armenian National Movement (H.H.Sh) held power and many of our friends were imprisoned by them, we cooperated with the authorities for resolution of foreign policy issues,” he said.
