The Faces of Armenia Fund Telethon 2011

The Faces of Armenia Fund Telethon 2011

What has become an Armenian-American Thanksgiving Day tradition, the Armenia Fund’s International Telethon is going to hit the airwaves for the 14th time on November 24 beginning 8:00 (PST) in the morning and going live for 12 hours, raising funds to provide clean drinking and irrigation water to the villages of Artsakh as well as to continue Armenia Fund’s rural development program in Armenia’s border villages.
Through a series of fast-paced Telethon videos Armenia Fund will provide a report to more than 100,000 of its donors as well as the general public on the projects implemented as a result of the fundraising campaign of 2010 – be it infrastructure, agricultural development or humanitarian programs. Music videos featuring a who’s who of Armenia’s and the Diaspora’s singers will provide entertainment keeping the audience glued to their TV screens in more than 20 countries of the world.
Telethon 2011 will feature a wide range of hosts who will tell the story of Armenia Fund as it enters its 20th year of helping the people in rural Armenia and Artsakh by providing schools, hospitals, access roads, drinking and irrigation water systems, natural gas pipelines and other necessities of life otherwise unavailable to them.

Veteran of Armenia Fund Telethons, Armenian actor and entertainer, Hrant Tokhatyan will be flying in from Armenia along with Armenian Public Television news anchor and commentator Artak Herikyan. As an Artsakh resident and journalist of Artsakh Public TV, Liana Adamyan will bring her unique perspective on the impact Armenia Fund’s projects in Nagorno Karabakh over the years.
Tokhatyan, Herikyan and Adamyan will be joined by British-Armenian comedian and entertainer, Kev Orkian of London, dubbed one of the world’s finest comedy pianists.

Armenian-American television actor and script writer, Ludwig Manukian, who, like other Telethon hosts, traveled to Armenia and Artsakh over the last two years, visiting Armenia Fund’s projects, talking to local residents and witnessing the tremendous positive and definite difference the Telethons make in Armenia, will partner with Carla Garapedian, an award winning documentary filmmaker who anchored the BBC World News and contributed to PBS Frontline.

Tatevik Ekizian Madjarian of Los Angeles based MClub television music show will guide the audience through the variety of traditional and contemporary Armenian music.
Celebrity super-lawyer Mark Geragos will keep the telephones fired up and ringing off the hook as more than 100 volunteers from Los Angeles based Armenian schools will take pledges in the studio.

Armenia Fund is grateful to all the hosts for donating their time and talent to make sure that every resident of Artsakh has round-the-clock supply of clean drinking water in their homes.
In Southern California, the Telethon can be seen on KSCI Channel 18, KVMD, Shant and USArmenia networks for full 12 hours.

In the Glendale/Burbank/Pasadena/La Canada areas in addition to Shant (Charter Channel 388) and USArmenia (Charter Channel 386), the Telethon broadcast will be also shown on AABC (Charter Channel 384), HighVision (Charter Channel 381), ICFN (Charter Channel 382), Horizon (Charter Channel 385), RUSTV (Charter Channel 387) and AMGA (Charter Channel 380) Armenian TV channels.
