We are partnering with the Homeland Development Initiative Foundation (HDIF)to crowdfund a portion of the operational costs of a wheat-themed festival in the rural town of Vardenis, Armenia--where the average monthly income is $150. We want to change that by empowering local small business owners to bring their products to market.
The festival will take place in September 2014 and is expected to attract about 3,000 guests from all over the country who will spend the day eating great wheat-themed foods (lavash, harissa, gata) and buying unique handmade products sold by up to 10 local small business owners. Local traditional musicians and dancers will perform throughout the day, and transportation at the festival site will be provided by local drivers.
The idea is to activate as many skilled people in the area as possible and to present Vardenis as a desirable place for tourists to visit and explore.
We have 30 days to raise $10,037!

Greenhouses in Berkaber yield delicious, rosy tomatoes!
In August of 2013 ONEArmenia launched its Berkaber campaign, an initiative to bring sustainable farming to Armenia by building four green houses in the border village of Berkaber. Since its full funding in September, 2013 Berkaber has been able to grow and harvest tasty vegetables and sell them in nearby markets.
This season the tomatoes have done exceptionally well. So far 500-700 kg of tomatoes have been harvested from each greenhouse and the harvest is expected to go on for several weeks!
