In this one hour documentary, filmmaker Laurence Jourdan considers the origins, nature and stakes of the 1915 Armenian Genocide. As in no other documentary to date, "Le Genocide Armenien" presents the geopolitical conditions under which the Ottoman Turkish government undertook to destroy the Armenian population living on its historic homeland. The film includes exceptional archival film footage from early 20th century Turkey, as well as key excerpts from official reports and documents of Western diplomats stationed in the Ottoman Empire during the Armenian Genocide. The film also provides revealing details about the deportation methods and routes, and eye-witness interviews with genocide survivors.
