What a difference a day makes - ANCA

Dear All

What a difference a day makes.

A few hours ago, Senator Boxer placed a "hold" on Matt Bryza's confirmation as Ambassador to Azerbaijan.

Her stand represents a powerful symbol of how thoughtful Senators and active citizens can ensure that U.S. diplomacy is driven by American values, not special interests.

Only 24 hours ago, things looked a lot different.

On Monday of this week The Wall Street Journal was on the offensive, unfairly attacking Senator Boxer for daring to question Bryza's nomination.

In a mean-spirited editorial, the Journal bitterly and repeatedly attacked the ANCA's "hard line" opposition to Bryza's deeply flawed nomination. (Well, if "hard line" means fearlessly standing up to anti-Armenian interests, it's a badge we all wear with honor.)

I don't mind the attack on the ANCA. We're on the front lines of the Armenian Cause and used to taking hits. Getting bloodied and bruised is a small price to pay for truth and justice.

What we can't accept is the Journal's insulting our community by demeaning all of us, who believe in Armenian Genocide recognition, as somehow suffering from a "tribal Caucasian obsession."

It's an outrage that the Journal so scornfully smears an entire ethnic group. And for what? The "crime" of honoring the victims of genocide. Disgraceful!

You saw how we fought the Bryza nomination. You know we'll fight back against the Wall Street Journal. With your financial support, we'll take on the bad policies, biased policy-makers, and bought-out publishers who threaten the Armenian Cause.

We've shown we can beat the DC insiders. Our results are proof of that. To win these battles, we need your devotion, your work, and your secure on-line donation.

The ANCA doesn't have one big benefactor or major corporate sponsors. We rely on donations, large and small, from families and friends like you.

So please take a moment right now to send us your secure
on-line donation.

Whether you give $10, $100, or $1000, every dollar truly makes a difference.

With warmest regards,

Ken Hachikian

Chairman
