 Oriental Orthodox-Catholic Forum

Oriental Orthodox-Catholic Forum of Great Britain took place at the Headquarters of the Ukrainian Catholic Church in London on 7 November 2018. With the blessings of the Primate the Armenian Church was represented by Fr Shnork Bagdassarian, Pastor of St Sarkis Church. Archbishop Kevin McDonald of the Roman Catholic Church made a presentation about the Rite of Baptism for children according to the Roman Catholic Church. Members of the other denominations shared their own position on the subject and pastoral practices, and it became a fascinating discussion between the participants.

Armenian Boat Party

There is a parable in the Gospel of Mark, Jesus was sailing with His disciples. “A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him: “Teacher, don't you care if we drown?” Jesus got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves: “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith? They were terrified and asked each other,

“Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!” (Mark 4:36-41).
On Saturday, we are also on a boat but the waters of the Thames River were calm and we very much enjoyed our time. However, we should look at the above as a metaphor for our lives, life is not plain sailing. It is the world where we live in and at times, we are faced with difficulties and challenges. We should not lose faith and give up hope. There is only one person, whose name is Jesus, who can keep us calm through our faith.

Dear friends, as we start this journey to come together this evening for strengthening our fellowship let us remember that we are Christians and we need to hold fast on our Christian values as Christians help us in our modern secularised world not to fall in the traps of materialism. Let's start our journey with Lord's prayer asking heavenly and graceful Father to bless our initiative. Let us remember that our boat is the Armenian Church, which belongs to you” said the Primate while greeting more than 200 young men and women at the Armenian boat party, organised by the ACYO London Chapter.
The boat party was one of the programs that ACYO London chapter has organised for our youth said MarineMograbian who made an opening speech with Armo Akanesyans.
Anna Lanshakova Hovhannissian and the rest of the ACYO Worked very hard to bring the youth together. The evening program began with a performance by Akhtamar dance group and continued to the rest of the night with music from DJ FE Beats.
The delicious food was prepared by Mr Johanes Farhadian and was enjoyed by all the attendees. Overall the event was a roaring success and we have received so many positive feedbacks about the event ever since. Our aim is to continue to hold similar events to strengthen the youth's connection with the Church and Armenian values.

Announcement regarding the Children's club

We would like to inform our parents that the Children club will meet on Saturday November 24th, at 2 -3:30pm at Bishop's house instead of November 17th. The change is one off and does not affect any of our future dates. Apologises for the inconvenience.

Armenian Children's Club Լույս Մանկանց is led by Mrs Anna Henden. Miss Vanouhi Petrosyan a young and talented alumnus of the Armenian Sunday school helps her introducing children to Armenian language and Church through colouring of papers, watching short cartoons, speaking in Armenian (Western and Eastern). The Children's club meets fortnightly first and third Saturday of each month.

Equipment for Arachnortaran
(Bishop's house)

As the Armenian community is aware, new Arachnortaran (Bishop's house) is very often used for gatherings in the nature of seminars, talks, debates, screenings, presentations, music performances.
The hall that is used for such purposes is in desperate need of a sound system so that the events can be run smoothly and in a professional manner.
We have estimated that if £800 to £1000 is spent, it will be possible to purchase a set of two active speakers, a set of two audio monitors, a small mixing desk, 2 microphones and 2 microphone stands.

A Service to celebrate the contribution of Christians in the Middle East will be held at Westminster Abbey at 5.00pm on Tuesday 4th December 2018

Westminster Abbey is hosting a service to Celebrate the Contribution of Christians in the Middle East at 5.00 p.m. on Tuesday 4th December 2018. The service is an opportunity for Christians in the UK to express solidarity with and offer encouragement to the Christian communities in the Middle East and members of the diaspora in the UK; to remember suffering, endurance and hope. The start of the Advent season is a poignant time to draw attention to the challenges faced by Christians in the Middle East and celebrate their contribution as a significant part of the region's diversity. The Archbishop of Canterbury will preach at the service, which will be attended by church leaders representing the churches and countries of the region as well as representatives of their communities now living in the UK. There is no charge for the tickets to the service and they can be obtained via the Westminster Abbey website (www.westminster-abbey.org/…/december/christians-middle-east/) or directly at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/a-service-to-celebrate-the-contribution-of-christians-in-the-middle-east-tickets-51647378700?aff=ebapi
