Have you asked your Representative to support H.Res.252?

The Turkish Government's highly paid lobby firms have teamed up with Turkish American groups to defeat the Armenian Genocide Resolution.

Turkey's Foreign Minister is using the Turkey-Armenia Protocols to kill the measure, senior Turkish officials are visiting with Members of Congress, and Turkish groups are issuing their own calls to action (see image to the left).

The House Foreign Affairs Committee is set to mark up the Armenian Genocide Resolution (H.Res.252) on March 4th.

ANCA Statement on the Proposed Meeting with Secretary of State Clinton

The Armenian National Committee of America stands for open and inclusive community representation.

It is in this spirit that the ANCA has consistently worked to foster direct Armenian American dialogue with America's leaders, not simply for ourselves or for those who share our perspectives, but for all the leading organizations that, together, represent the rich fabric of our community.

Such an approach reflects both our deep respect for our community's diversity and our equally profound belief in our community's unity of purpose on the central challenges facing the Armenian nation. Unfortunately, recent developments - related to a proposed community meeting with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton - have shown, that some others who strive to speak in our community's name do not share this faith in our community's basic decency, devotion, and common sense.

The controversy surrounding this meeting, while unnecessary and counterproductive, has, at the very least, served some useful purpose in providing our community with new insights into the significant distinctions between the ANCA and the Armenian Assembly - distinctions that reflect fundamentally different approaches to advocacy. Massachusetts Human Rights Coalition Launches Online Campaign for
U.S. Recognition of the Armenian Genocide

BOSTON, MA - A broad coalition of Boston-area Jewish and Armenian groups and community members launched a campaign this week urging U.S. officials to stand up to Turkey's multi-million dollar campaign of genocide denial, specifically calling on Congress and President Obama to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide, reported the Armenian National Committee of Massachusetts (ANC-MA).

The Coalition to Recognize the Armenian Genocide's online petition declares, "We believe universal human rights and historical truth must guide American foreign policy."

"This initiative is important because it demonstrates how on a grassroots level, in both the Jewish and Armenian communities, there is a demand for justice for the Armenian Genocide," said ANC member and coalition co-chair Laura Boghosian. "It is vital that the powerful in Washington, whether they are in the State Department or in lobbying organizations, realize that they will be called to task when they sacrifice principle and historical truth for political expediency."

The online petition, hosted on change.org - a prominent activism portal created following the election of President Obama - provides a simple form to take action, as well as a link to resources and background on the Armenian Genocide, Turkey's denial of that crime against humanity, and why denial of the Armenian Genocide endangers everyone.
