Kotchnak began as a duo in 1976 and then performed as Ensemble de Musique Arménienne until 1987. The group sings traditional Armenian folk songs as well as music of ashoughs or troubadours, especially those of Sayat Nova. Kotchnak is based in Paris and has performed throughout Europe and North America, most recently visiting Poland. Tonight’s songs will be accompanied by the kanoun, dap and kamancheh.
The concert will take place in the lower Gallery, surrounded by the photographs and postcards, offering another opportunity to see the exhibition before and after the concert.
