DUBLIN ANNUAL PARISH ASSEMBLY
Over hundred people of different ages, and the children of the Sunday School, gathered in the Taney Parish Church on Sunday, 29th January, to participate in the church services and listen to the homily by His Grace Bishop Vahan. Following the church services, members of the Mission Parish Council (MPC) of the Armenian Church of Dublin invited all to the first annual Church Assembly of the Mission Parish, which took place in the Church Hall. Following the registration and signing of the faithful present, the Assembly started with an opening prayer by the Primate and followed by his welcome remarks. The MPC Chairperson, Ayda Lundon then proceeded to present her annual report on behalf of the MPC, which included a general overview of the operation of the MPC during the past year. This was followed by the financial report of the MPC which was presented by Margaret Sarafian, MPC Treasurer. The third report was presented by Dr. Paul Manookian, who offered a detailed description of the different church activities and programmes offered by the MPC during the past year in chronological order. The floor was then opened for a discussion of the three reports. After several questions and answers the assembly members moved to adopt the three reports as part of the official record of the Assembly. All present at the Assembly were pleasantly surprised by the unexpected visit of His Eminence the Abp. of the Church of Ireland in Dublin, who stopped by to greet Bishop Vahan and wish him and the Armenian community in Dublin well and God’s blessings as they work closely together to strengthen the church in Dublin. The final action of the Assembly was to elect its 2012 Church Council. The MPC had secured a few names to nominate for the election. The Primate then invited the faithful for floor nominations, several of which were made, seconded and accepted. The following were elected as the 2012 Dublin MPC: Ayda
Lundon, Dr. Manouk, Sarafian, Malkhasian, Paronyan and Gregorian. Congratulations Dublin MPC for a very successful first Annual Armenian Church Assembly in Ireland. God bless you!

VISITING THE GREEK ORTHODOX ARCHBISHOP His Grace Bishop Vahan Hovhanessian, Primate, was the guest of His Eminence Archbishop Grigorios, Primate of the
Archdiocese of Thyateira and the Greek Orthodox Church in the United Kingdom. The Primate, accompanied by Fr. Shnork Bagdassarian, Pastor of St. Sarkis Church, visited the Archhishop’s resident and were given a tour of the beautiful private chapel and the palace. The two hierarchs discussed the mutual cordial relationship between the two churches and issues facing the two churches in the West and specifically in the United Kingdom. The two hierarchs applauded the courageous act of the French President and Senate in making it a legal offence to deny the Genocide of the Armenians in 1915. Bishop Vahan thanked His Eminence for his kind hospitality.
This Weekend: Feast of the Patron St. Sarkis
As part of the weekend celebration of the Feast of St. Sarkis, the patron saint of the Armenian Church in Kensington, London, the St. Sarkis Church Council together with the Trust is organising an evening Ecumenical Service for Peace, under the auspices of His Grace Bishop Vahan Hovhanessian, Primate. Join us for prayers for world peace. The service is scheduled to commence at 18:00 in the church sanctuary. Please be there a few minute earlier to help us welcome our guests and dignitaries. On the following day, Sunday, join us in celebrating the Name Day of St. Sarkis Church, beginning with a Divine Liturgy, and followed by the blessing and distribution of Harissa. The Armenian Madagh is the old Christian tradition of Agape, a meal of love shared by the early Christians. Madagh is considered a memorial meal, distributed to all. Harissa is a traditional Armenian dish used for madagh, a sort of poridge, made of stewed and boned chicken and coarsly ground soacked wheat. The freshly prepared Harissa will be blessed by the Bishop and distributed to all in the church yard. For further information please Click Here.
