Culture/Social - An evening of Armenian Music, Poetry, Dance & Singing
St. Sarkis Church 90th Anniversary celebrations continued last Saturday, 3 November, with a unique cultural-social evening in the Gulbenkian Hall. The theme of the evening was "Dinner with Poet Lola Koundakjian". Despite the cancellation of the flight because of hurricane Sandy, Lola Koundakjian joined the gathering live from New York via Skype. She was introduced by Prof. Theo van Lint of Oxford University. The hall was filled to capacity with young professionals and families who sang, danced and recited poetry - along with delicious homemade food and wine. "Instead of talking about Armenian culture, we lived our culture" explained Hratch Tchilingirian, chairman of the anniversary organising committee and host of the evening. The previous very successful dinner on 3 October was with Poet Paruyr Sevak.
