Marina Hagopian‎I am a descendant of a survivor of the Armenian Genocide! 7 hrs · Glendale, CA, United States ·

The first man on the left is my husband's grandfather, Hakop Karatorosyan, also known as Mirtik Yaghub, his family was from Aintab. His entire family, his parents, 5 brothers, 4 sisters, uncle, aunt an their 6 children were killed in front of him by the Turks. Somehow he escaped and became a courier. He was only a teenager at the time, but he wanted to save as many people as possible. He traveled by foot for days, through forests, by hiding amongst the dead, by killing Turks so that he could get the message to the Fedayi (Armenian Militia). He fought for the freedom of Musa Daghand and after the bloody war at Der Zor he went back to Aintab and continued fighting for the freedom his people. In 1920 he moved to Aleppo Syria and married Ripsime Iskenian and had 5 children and moved to Armenia in 1947, he passed away in 1972
