«Քրիստոս յարուցեալ է ի մեռելոց, առաջին պտուղ ննջեցելոց:»
(Ա Կոր 15:20)

Սիրելի եւ հաւատացեալ ժողովուրդ Հայոց,

Ահաւասիկ Մեծ Պահքի եւ Աւագ Շաբաթուայ հոգեպարար պահեցողութեան, զղջումի եւ ինքնաքննութեան ընթացքը իր գագաթնակէտին կը հասնի: Անգամ մը եւս մենք կանգնած կը գտնենք զմեզ Մեր Տիրոջ թափուր գերեզմանին առջեւ լսելու համար մխիթարիչ յաղթական կանչը հրեշտակին, որով կը հաստատէ Նորոգող հնութեանց յարութեան ուրախ լուրը՝ «չէ աստ այլ յարեաւ» (Մատթ. 28:6):
Սակայն Զատկական տօնը մեզի համար պարզապէս պատմական հրաշքի մը յիշատակութիւնը չէ: Ինչպէս Պօղոս Առաքեալ կ՝ուսուցանէ մեզի, Քրիստոս իր յարութեամբ յաղթահարեց մահը եւ այդպէսով միանգամ ընդ միշտ կործանեց մեր մեղքի շղթաներն ու մահուան կապանքները՝ Իր հաւատացեալներուն նոր եւ յաւիտենական կեանք պարգեւելով: Քրիստոս առաջին պտուղը եղաւ մեռելներէն յարութիւն առնելու: Անոր պիտի յաջորդեն ամէն անոնք որոնք մկրտութեամբ միացած են Փրկչին, եւ իրենց կենցաղով դարձած են արք եւ կանայք Նոր Ուխտին՝ յաւէտ կնքուած Քրիստոսի արեամբ:
Հետեւաբար Զատիկը պարզ պատմական դէպքի մը յիշատակը չէ, այլ ան զուտ անձնական հետեւանքներով լեցուն տօնախմբութիւն մըն է իւրաքանչիւրիս համար: Զատիկը մահու վրայ մեր յաղթանակի յոյսի տօնն է եւ սկիզբն է մեր յաւերժութեան: Աստուծոյ արքայութեան մէջ մեր տուն վերադարձի խնճոյքն է ան: Զատիկը՝ Աստուածային հրաւէրն է մեր վերամիացման մեր նահատակներուն, սուրբերուն եւ հանգուցեալ ընտանիքի անդամներուն ու բարեկամներուն հետ:
Սուրբ Զատիկը եւս առաւել եւ մանաւանդ այս տարի մեզի համար հաւաքական եւ համազգային ծաւալ ունի: Մենք զաւակներն ենք ազգի մը որ կանուխէն որդեգրեց Քրիստոնէութիւնը որպէս իր ազգային եւ պետական : Այսպէսով մէր Քրիստոնէական հաւատքը դարձած է մեր ազգային ինքնութեան հիմնական բաղկացուցիչներէն մէկը անցեալ երկու հազար տարիներու ընթացքին: Մեր նախահայրերը, մեծ հայրերն ու մեծ մայրերը եւ մեր ծնողները լաւ տեղեակ, եւ համոզուած էին որ մեռնիլը Քրիստոսի հաւատքով՝ յարութիւն եւ յաւիտենական կեանք է Տիրոջ հետ: Ինչպէս Սուրբ Գիրքը կ՝ըսէ. «Ուրեմն անոր հետ թաղուեցանք մկրտութեամբ՝ մահուան համար որպէսզի ինչպէս Քրիստոս մեռելներէն յարութիւն առաւ՝ Հօրը փառքով, այնպէս ալ մենք

ընթանանք նոր կեանքի մէջ» (Հռոմ. 6:4): Մեր ժողովուրդի պատմութիւնը լեցուն է Գողգոթաներով: Բազում դրացի ազգեր եւ օտարներ, փորձեցին մեզ կործանել, ոմանք նոյնիսկ՝ ոչնչացնել: Սակայն մեր ժողովուրդի հաւատքին շնորհիւ՝ իւրաքանչիւր պատմական Գողգոթային յաջորդեց ազգային յարութիւն եւ վերածնունդ: Այսպէս է մեր ժողովուրդի պատմութիւնը սկսեալ Աւարայրէն մինչեւ 1915ի ցեղասպանութիւնը եւ այսօր:

Շուտով Հայերը արար աշխարհ եւ մեր բարեկամները պիտի նշեն հարիւրամեայ

տարելիցը 1915իցեղասպանութեան:Մենքկըյիշենքահաւորոճրագոր-ծութիւնները

որով Թուրքն ու իր ցեղակիցները փորձեցին կործանել մեր ժողովուրդը եւ

սնանկացնել մեր ազգը ոսկորներու աքսորներու կարաւաններով ճանապարհներու

վրայ (Եզեկիէլ 37:1-14): Սակայն մեր շուրջը նայելով այսօր, հարիւր տարիներ ետքը,

կը տեսնենք որ այդ ոսկորները յարութիւն առած են եւ ծաղկող ազգ մը դարձած,

զօրաւոր Հանրապետութիւնով եւ սփիւռքով: Անոնք որոնք դեռ կը կասկածին

Քրիստոսի յարութեան, թող կարդան մեր ժողովուրդի պատմութիւնը:

Ուրախ ենք որ այս տարի մենք Զատիկը կը տօնենք մեծ ակնկալութեամբ՝ որ շուտով

պիտի վկայենք նաեւ ցեղասպանութեան մեր մէկուկէս միլիոն զոհերէն հաւատքի

համար ինկած նահատակներու սրբադասման յաղթանակը, որպէս սուրբեր

Հայաստանեայց Աոաքելական Եկեղեցւոյ: Այսպէսով Եկեղեցին մեր ժողովուրդի

յարութեան եւ յաղթանակի կնիքը՝ ստորագրուած մեր նահատակներու արեամբ՝

պաշտօնապէս պիտի դրոշմէ։

Թող Զատիկը բերէ իր հետ Յարուցեալ Տիրոջ օրհնութիւնները մեր Ֆրանսահայ եւ

Անգլիայի ժողովուրդի, մեր եկեղեցւոյ Թեմերու եւ ծուխերուն, ինչպէս նաեւ զանազան

ազգային մշակութային, ընկերային եւ քաղաքական հաստատութիւններու վրայ։ Թող

Տէրը զօրացնէ մեր ժողովուրդը, մեր Կաթողիկոսութիւնն ու Մայր Աթոռը ի Ս.

Էջմիածին, Կաթողիկոսութիւնն Մեծի Տանն Կիլիկիոյ եւ նուիրապետական

աթոռները։ Թող Ամենակալն Աստուած անշարժ պահէ եւ պահպանէ մեր ժողովուրդը

ի Հայաստան մեր Հանրապետութեամբ եւ ի սփիւռս Հայոց։

Ձեզ եւ մեզ մեծ աւետիս՝ Քրիստոս յարեաւ ի մեռելոց։ Օրհնեալ է յարութիւնն

Քրիստոսի։

Dear Fellow Armenians,
Behold the renewing season of fasting, self-examination and penance of the Great Lent and Holy Week is over, and once again we find ourselves at the empty tomb of Christ hearing the angel’s comforting and victorious proclamation of Christ’s resurrection, “He is not here. He has risen” (Matthew 28:6).
Once again we are reminded that Easter is not simply the celebration of a historic event in the past. As the Apostle Paul teaches us in the Bible, through His resurrection Christ once and for all destroyed the shackles of our sins and the bolts of death, granting His followers new and eternal life. Christ became the first fruit to rise from the dead and all those united with Him through baptism and who by their life have become men and women of the New Covenant sealed by the blood of Christ, will follow Him.
Easter therefore is the celebration of a feast with a very personal consequences. It is the celebration of the hope of our own victory over death and the beginning of our eternal life. It is the celebration of our return home to the Kingdom of God, our reunion with our long passed away relatives, friends martyrs and saints.
Easter, furthermore and more forcefully this year, has a communal dimension as well. We are the sons and daughters of a nation which has adopted Christianity as its national and state religion. This makes our belief in the resurrection of Christ an essential component of our national identity for the past two thousand years. Our ancestors, grandparents and parents, knew well that death with Christ means resurrection and eternal life with Him as well. As Bible says, “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life” (Romans 6:4). The history of our people is full of many Golgothas. Many nations, neighbours and foreigners tried to destroy us, some attempting to annihilate us. However, thanks to our people faith, every national Golgotha was followed by a resurrection of our nation. This is the case beginning with Avarayr and through the Genocide of 1915 and until today.

‘Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those

who have fallen asleep.’

(1 Cor 15:20)

Soon Armenians and their friends around the world will commemorate the centenary of the Genocide of 1915. We recall the horrible crimes committed against our people by the Turks and their allies hundred years ago trying to destroy our people and reduce us into dry bones on the paths of the deportation caravans (Ezekiel 37:1-14). However, looking around us today, hundred years later, we see these bones having resurrected and turned into a blossoming nation with a strong republic and diaspora. Those who still doubt the truth of the resurrection, need to read the history of our people.
I am happy that this year we celebrate Easter with the anticipation of soon canonising the martyrs among the 1.5 million victims of the Genocide as saints of the Armenian Church. Doing so, the Armenian Church will officially stamp the seal of the resurrection and victory of our people signed by the blood of the martyrs led by their faith in the resurrected Christ.
May this Easter bring with it the Resurrected Lord’s blessings upon our people here in France, the UK and Ireland, the Dioceses of the Armenian Church with its parishes and organisations, the various cultural, social and political Armenian organisations. May the Lord strengthen our people around the world, our Catholicosate in Holy Etchmiadzin, the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia and the hierarchical sees. May He keep unshaken the Republic of Armenia and our people around the world.
Great tidings to you all, Christ is risen from the dead! Blessed is the resurrection of Christ.
