SECOND ANNUAL ASSEMBLY OF THE
ARMENIAN CHURCH IN DUBLIN
The Council of the Armenian Church in Dublin has announced the date and agenda of the second annual assembly of the Church community. The Assembly will convene this Sunday, 11 November at the Taney Parish Church, following the celebration of the Badarak by His Grace Bishop Vahan Hovhanessian, Primate. Among the items on the agenda are: the purchase of a church property and community centre; more frequent celebration of the Badarak and the scheduling of cultural and social events; the establishment of an Armenian Church Charity in the Republic of Ireland and discussion and ratification of the reports by the chairman and treasurer of the Council. All are welcome to attend the Assembly. However, only registered members of the Armenian Church Parish of Dublin, who have paid their dues for the 2013 are authorized by the Armenian Church Bylaws adopted by the Dublin Church Assembly in 2011 to vote and run for elected positions in the Parish administrative positions, including the Parish Council. For the first time this year, the Assembly in Dublin will elect diocesan delegates to represent the Armenian Church community in Dublin in the discussion of diocesan bylaws, suggested by the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. The Armenians in Dublin registered themselves as a church community recognized by the government. Several months later, the people gathered at Taney Church, following the celebration of Badarak by His Grace Bishop Vahan, voted on portioning the Primate to recognise them as a Mission Parish within the Armenian Church. His Grace Bishop Vahan Hovhanessian, Primate, will visit the Mission Parish of the Armenian Church in Dublin on Sunday 11th November 2012. The Primate will celebrate Badarak at Taney Parish Church in Dundrum and preside over the Annual Assembly to follow. The Agenda of the assembly will include discussion of the proposed Diocesan Bylaws and annual membership dues, as well as the Church Trust. If you live in Dublin or its vicinities in Ireland, we invite you to join our growing community with its active programmes including a Sunday School, monthly celebrations of Badarak, monthly get-togethers and a fellowship hour, regularly organized lecture and discussion groups, choral rehearsals and other Armenian community activities. An annual donation of €60 per year will make you a member of the Mission Parish and give you a vote and a say in the administration of the Parish. You can learn more about the Parish Council and its activities by visiting their website: http://armenians.ie/ or contacting Ayda: alundon@eircom.net.

important symbol of the Advent season remains the manger that represents the main theme of the season—the anticipation of the celebration of the miraculous and virgin birth of Jesus. However, have you ever ventured to think of what happened after Jesus’ birth? The manger-event after all is only the beginning. In and of itself it would have
had no value for us today, had it not been followed by Christ’s ministry, miracles,

On the Saturday night before the above service, Fr Garegin, ably assisted by Deacon Artur
Bobikyan, with the encouragement, help and blessings of our beloved Primate, Bishop Vahan
Hovhanessian, organised the first meeting in Manchester of the Armenian Church Youth
Fellowship - AYCF in the Vicarage of the Holy Trinity Church. If our church is to have a
future, activities such as these are essential, to prepare members who are interested in getting to
know about our church and want to serve and/or attend the church. For this reason we are
grateful to our Bishop and Fr Garegin for finding the time in their very busy life to give us this
very important service also. During this first meeting, the new members of the AYCF were
enthusiastic and expressed their readiness to work together and undertake activities with a
bigger number of participants. The first event to be organised by the ACYF Manchester will
be the ‘Christmas Carol Evening Service’ in December. We wish the newly formed ACYF of Manchester a very enjoyable, successful
and fruitful future! Աստուած օրհնէ Մանչեսթըրի երիտասարդական նորակազմ խումբը:

His Grace Bishop Vahan Hovhanessian
President of the COOC
Although you may already have heard through international news channels, I am delighted to be able to inform you that it was announced this morning that The Queen has approved the nomination of the Bishop of Durham, the Right Reverend Justin Welby, for election as the 105th Archbishop of Canterbury and Primate of All England, to succeed to the Most Reverend Dr Rowan Williams following his resignation on the 31 December 2012.
The election of the new Archbishop by the Cathedral Chapter of Canterbury will be confirmed in London in early February, and he will be enthroned in the See of St Augustine in Canterbury Cathedral on 21 March 2013.
On hearing of the nomination of his successor, Archbishop Rowan said, “I am delighted at the appointment of Bishop Justin Welby to Canterbury. I have had the privilege of working closely with him on various occasions and have always been enriched and encouraged by the experience. He has an extraordinary range of skills and is a person of grace, patience, wisdom and humour; he will bring to this office both a rich pastoral experience and a keen sense of international priorities, for the Church and in the world. I wish him—with Caroline and the family—every blessing, and hope that the Church of England and the Anglican Communion will share my pleasure at this appointment and support him with prayer and love.”
His full statement and further details about the new Archbishop can be found at www.archbishopofcanterbury.org. Messages of welcome and support for the new Archbishop should be sent here to Lambeth Palace, rather than to his current diocese.
With our gratitude for your prayers, and our sincerest best wishes:
From Lambeth Palace, London 9 November 2012
