VICTORY for Armenian Genocide Recognition
Dear Friends,
Today, the Armenian Genocide Resolution passed the House Foreign Affairs Committee!
Despite intense lobbying from the Turkish government and other genocide deniers, the House Foreign Affairs Committee passed House Resolution 252. The measure calls on the President to ensure that the foreign policy of the United States reflects appropriate understanding and sensitivity concerning issues related to human rights, ethnic cleansing, and genocide documented in the United States record relating to the Armenian Genocide.
The majority of members of the committee defended truth, validated history, and refused to conform to Turkey's dangerous and immoral policy of genocide denial or to submit to its unjustifiable threats.
Please join us in celebrating the news this Saturday night for Hye Tad Evening. Our special guest is Raffi Hovannisian, Member of Parliament and first Foreign Minister of Armenia. You'll also meet Laura Spanjian, candidate for San Francisco Board of Supervisors, and we'll pay a special tribute to one of our community's "local heroes."
